Working with an incredible lady who was in charge of security at Baghdad Airport during the insurgency

I am really excited to be helping Lisa Morgan to tell her story in her autobiography War has Many Faces.

Lisa was an ‘ordinary’ girl from the North West of England who was working in a phone shop when the World Trade Centre was attacked.

Unbeknownst to her work colleagues she had a secret.

She had been undergoing personal security, airport security and weapons training and the world was about to get a whole lot more dangerous.

Lisa’s journey took her from acting as personal protection for a spoilt Saudi princess, to being responsible for the security of every flight departing from Baghdad during the most dangerous period in its history.

This is a unique and fascinating story – a piece of untold history from the point of view of the kind of person we don’t normally hear from.

Lisa may have been raised by a white family in the North West of England but she was ethnically Indian, adopted at the age of four, and was the only brown skinned person in her village throughout the 60’s and 70’s. This gave her a unique perspective on the unfolding chaos in Baghdad as she worked with teams of women, many of whom looked just like her.

Lisa has a delightful unpretentious storytelling style and my job is to make sure we are true to her unique voice while telling this amazing tale.
